Imperfect Containers for Treasure

posted Jun 3, 2018, 12:57 PM by St. Thomas Church

We have a treasure in us. That treasure is the good news of the love of God. We are imperfect when it comes to telling others the treasure we are given. We are also imperfect in living our lives like we have the treasure. We are imperfect containers for the treasure. But that's alright because it's not about us. It's about trusting God.

Belief is not a nod of our heads, it is a change in our direction.

So, What Color Is It?

Laurel or Yanny? Black and blue or gold and white? We will always hear different things. We will always disagree. We will see or hear the exact same thing, but interpret it completely differently. Even when it comes to God, we will interpret or hear what He is saying and disagree. Do not be distracted by this. Tune your ears and your eyes to God's mighty deeds; Jesus, and let the love of God flow through you. And as you do, God's love, God's good news, will be heard, and the world will be renewed.

Ways to Participate in Eternal Life

posted May 13, 2018, 6:06 PM by St. Thomas Church

It is not about the quantity of eternal life, it is about the quality of the eternal life. When Jesus spoke of eternal life, He was referring to it in the here and now, the present. Eternal life is less about a time or existence that kicks in after we die and more about a vitality of life that we participate in now, in connection to God in Christ.

Contextual Blindness

posted May 6, 2018, 4:44 PM by St. Thomas Church

How often do we, the church, stand in God's way? If God shows no partiality, should we the church stand in God's way? How often are we thinking we are letting God drive the bus, but the whole time we're desperately trying to hold the wheels on and the Holy Spirit is trying to take them off to let the bus go wherever God wants it to go?

Abide in Him

Abide in Jesus and allow Him to work on your heart and on your spirit and you will be transformed. Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner.

Of One Heart and Soul?

Whatever you have is enough because it's never all that there is. Even when we don't have all that we need, it simply means the rest has to come from God, or others, or both. May we invite God's Spirit to open our eyes and see.

The People of the Resurrection

posted Apr 1, 2018, 4:32 PM by St. Thomas Church

Let us not be silent about the good and the extraordinary things that came of the resurrection. The danger is to start believing that the old and mundane are really all there is, unaware of how God is at work today. Look around you, the power of the resurrection is still at work in our world, and that love needs to be spread.

God never imposes in intrudes, God only proposes and invites.

Jesus' Nature Revealed

posted Mar 30, 2018, 6:56 PM by St. Thomas Church

The King offers us His hand on His way to the cross. Follow Jesus' path to death and you will receive life. Let go of your betrayals, violence, failures, and trust Him. He is the way.
